Lunar Owls' DJ Sackmann Voted 2025 Unrivaled Coach of the Year

MIAMI (March 14, 2025) – Unrivaled announced today Lunar Owls Head Coach DJ Sackmann was named the 2025 Unrivaled Coach of the Year. Sackmann earned the honor after receiving the most combined votes from Unrivaled players and coaches, as well as a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.

“I’m so grateful to receive this award, but it’s really for the players and our assistant coach Maggie Rosario. Without them, none of this would be possible. It was a big learning curve for me, and having players who have high basketball IQs who are easy to coach made this really special. Shout out to our squad.”

Sackmann guided the 13-1 Lunar Owls to the No. 1 overall seed in the Unrivaled Playoffs presented by Samsung Galaxy in his first season as a head coach. The Lunar Owls had three of the top nine scorers lead the best offensive attack in Unrivaled. Napheesa Collier (1st - 25.7 ppg), Allisha Gray (7th - 19.2 ppg) and Skylar Diggins-Smith (9th - 17.9 ppg) fueled the Lunar Owls, who played with a five-player roster all season.
